Signs of Problematic Gaming

If you notice the following signs in yourself, stop and seek help.

Warning Signs

  • Placing repeated bets to try to recover lost money
  • Spending more than your set budget
  • Hiding your gaming from family or friends
  • Work or studies being harmed because of gaming
  • Feeling restless or irritable when not gaming
  • Taking on debt to fund gaming
  • Deciding to stop playing but being unable to follow through

The Golden Rules of Safe Gaming

Responsible players follow these principles.

1
Budget first, bet second. Before you start playing, decide how much money you will spend today. Once you reach that limit, stop.
2
Set a time limit. Playing for hours on end harms both mental and physical health. Set a fixed amount of time each day.
3
No betting on emotions. Never place bets when you are in a bad mood, under stress or after drinking.
4
Losing is normal, chasing is not. Do not try to "make back" losses by betting more — this is the most dangerous habit.
5
Take regular breaks. Take at least one full day off from gaming each week. This helps maintain mental well-being.
